Welcome to my blog! I guess I am starting this blog for some motivation, or more so for accountability. I figure if I say it out loud (even though I am actually typing it....and to people I don't know) that will give me more determination to accomplish my goals. What are my goals you ask, the same as everyone else's....eat healthy, lose pounds, get more exercise. But that isn't all, I am also on a mission to have flawless skin and healthy hair. I know, I am asking for alot.....which is precisely why I said it won't be easy!
Up until a few years ago, I never had issues with my weight. I never went over 120 pounds. And then....I quit smoking. Four years and more than 40 pounds later here I am. I know 40 pounds doesn't sound like much to most people, but I happen to be the worlds pickiest eater. I only like a few fruits and vegetables and the smell of seafood makes me sick, and I never exercised. So trust me, this will be a challenge.
So I started reading Bob Green's book, The Best Life Diet. It is an interesting book, maybe slightly too detailed for my impatient, only tell me what I need to know right now attitude. But the theory sounds good, so I'm going to stick with it. The book goes in phases. The first phase lasts 4 weeks, here is a brief summary:
Weigh in on the first day...then stay away from the scale for at least 4 weeks. (My pleasure!)
Increase activity level.
Stop eating 2 hours before bedtime.
Stay hydrated.
Take vitamins.
Eliminate 6 problem foods from your diet.
Here is what the six problem foods are:
1. Alcohol
2. Soda pop (omg, no more pepsi ????)
3. Foods with trans fats
4. Fried foods
5. White bread (arrrggghhh!)
6. High fat milk and yogurt
It doesn't sound so complicated right? It's not restricting you to salads and seafood, so how hard can it be? In a day or two I will weigh in, and I will blog my daily progress (when I say progress, I'm sure I really mean frustration) and my journey to totally transform my entire exterior.
To be continued.....
